Big Changes To Google Places

Announced this week are changes to the Google Places programme and this could result in big changes to you and the way you are seen on the web.

As the changes are rolled out we can bring you more on how this will effect you, as is the case with most programme changes they take a while to filter through and you will for now notice some inconsistencies.

The main change is that the ’7 pack’ map is gone and the map has moved to the right hand side of the screen. Places entries are then interspersed with natural seo listing, where Google finds a natural entry and a Places entry it combines them together and interestingly includes recommendations that you have on 3rd party sites such as Touch Local. Google talked about doing this last year when it used to be know as ‘citations’ but rarely appeared consistently.

It’s more important than ever that your Google Places lsiting is as full as possible and that you get 3rd party referrals on other local directory type sites.
